No bid contract for Tom Ridge's hometown, So Typical

Has anyone posted anything on this material from The Center for Public Integrity?  This is so typical of Ridge and all this administration.  Rules are for other folks, not them!

Tiny School Gets No-Bid Work From Homeland Security:
Agency deems Mercyhurst College the sole source to provide training for
intelligence analysts

WASHINGTON, March 16, 2005 - A tiny college located in the hometown of
ex-Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge is negotiating a no-bid
contract to train intelligence analysts for the sprawling agency. In
doing so, the agency is short-circuiting a selection process that would
normally include a host of bigger and better known institutions already
working in that field such as George Washington University and
Georgetown University.

Late last month, the Department of Homeland Security filed notice it was
entering into negotiations on a sole source basis with Mercyhurst
College in Erie, Pa., to develop and run an intelligence analyst
certificate program for the department. Mercyhurst is a liberal arts,
private, Catholic school located on the eastern shore of Lake Erie. The
school has an enrollment of about 3,100.

I'll respond (none / 0)

I am a member of the program at Mercyhurst College which trains analysts. I will not reveal my identity, but I will say this much.  The program is run by professionals who have a lot of government experience and are training us to be the best.  This country is very insecure and unprotected. With the training we recieve here at Mercyhurst, we have the capabilities of assessing the future of this country and ways to protect it.  To decline what Mr. Ridge has done here to expand the program would be foolish.  Do you want trained professionals who know what they're doing to help keep your homeland safe? If you answered yes, then you will plead no-contest to the idea of letting Mr. Ridge allow this no-bid contract to happen.
